World Cup Stages

Ski Cross (26-28 February) and Snowboard World Cup (3-5 March) stages have been held in Bakuriani ski resort, with around 200 athletes from more than 20 countries involved in the competitions. Bakuriani has never hosted such a large-scale event before, and, thereby, it proved of historical significance for Georgia.

Bakuriani has prepared for the competition with new infrastructure: three new ski lifts were built, an artificial snow system was installed and new equipment was purchased to ensure safety.

The competition was held with the support of the Mountain Resort Development Company under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Georgian Ski Federation. The partner of the event is Silknet.

The events were attended by Klaus Waldner, Race Director for ski cross and Uwe Beier, for snowboard cross by the International Ski Federation (FIS).

According to the International Ski Federation (FIS), participating athletes, Eurosport journalists and event organizers, test-events went well and Bakuriani is ready to host international competitions, including the 2023 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championship.

The whole events were held while strictly following FIS’s protocol, rules, and regulations.
